This beer is all about the malt. Apparently it's "brewed with 7 different grains". Had fun trying to name them all but didn't succeed. It's thick, rich, malty, and black as can be. Spoke with the brewer who told me this beer was supposed to be a seasonal. I'm glad he changed his mind. Again, another unique offering from the Main St. Grille & Brewing Co. This is the kind of beer that I could have for dinner and walk away a very happy man!

Served on tap at the brewpub at '35 Stout, a 6.2% stout.
A: The stout is black, no other word does it justice than that. A white head, really a thin band, stands in stark contrast to the body beneath it.
S: The stout is well-roasted, abundantly sweet with chocolate and coffee undertones, a sweet and semi-sweet punch of bitterness and roasted malts. Not much doin' hop-wise.
T: The roasted elements made this a formidable stout that, save for the lower abv, could pass for a decent double stout. The roasted malts are loaded down with coffee and chocolate flavors, at once sweet and acrid, lush and burnt. The body is just wet enough to keep the stout out of the Irish Dry range, where it needn't venture at all. Just burnt and chewy and filling.
M: Unlike the last review, I didn't pick up any off flavors or nasty side effects, just a smooth stout that packs a decent flavor profile.
D: This is one of the heavier Main St. offerings but it isn't that big and the booze never gets in the way. It's not my favorite dark beer from Main St but it is drinkable.

tried this beer on tap as well as all their others.looked good, smeel was nothing special, taste was like medicine, very dissapointing as were all the beers i sampled there.drove 65miles one way hoping for something i would enjoy and was very dissapointed.i have never been anywhere that all the beers had the same taste to them until now.on the positive side food was good.maybe there was something wrong with the draft system or something they washed the glasses in.whatever the case wont be trying any of their stuff again.

Pours a two finger brown head over a pitch liquid. Head settles to a creamy thin layer. Smells strong roast, grassy hops, dash of cream, and mild chocolate.
Tastes strong roast with a nearly balancing grassy hop edge. A bit ashy and an undertone of chocolate. Although the mouthfeel is a bit creamy, the rough roast penetrates onto the tongue to dry things out. Halfway through the glass and the beer has turned to quite a bit of scorch astringency. Where is the American hop flavor? Medium carbonation is appropriate.
