Pours a dark clear brown with a tan lacing for a head.
Smells of brown sugar, caramel, and biscuit malt.
Tastes of coffee, brown sugar, light toasted bready malts, and a chocolate finish.
Medium body with tingly carbonation on the tongue.
Excellent porter, lots of great flavor and nuance to that flavor. Very impressive brew and definitely worth trying.

An exceptional brew. The pepper and coffee undertones are subtle, yet prominent...? It's truly hard to explain. Unlike anything I've tried before. I would highly recommend this to any craft beer enthusiast.

An excellent pairing with dessert. The coffee tones are neither bland or overstated. It's just right, and I very much enjoy it with my turtle cheesecake, or whatever this is again. Thankfully, no turtles were harmed in the making of this dessert. Anyways. This beer is a good one. Nice coffee tones. I'd call this the perfect coffee beer.

For being off the beaten path (in no man's land between Youngstown and Cleveland) this brewery makes some pretty good brews and should be visited by anyone passing through. This robust porter is certainly one of those good beers that should tempt one to visit this fine establishment. The Main Street Joe is a very solid coffee porter like a good morning cup of joe which I presume is it's name sake. Great appearance with a thick frothy head and pitch black color. The aroma is stoked with malt, a hint of coffee, and not much else. Upon tasting, the Arabica Espresso beans immediately impact your tongue, there is a very faint taste of hops, and a solid malt backbone backs it up. While the coffee taste is certainly there, it doesn't over power you in the slightest and overall is proportioned perfectly. This a great beer, although it comes close to being slightly choppy in mouthfeel, but not too close. Lacing is non-existant (could be a result of the pint glass) but the head lasts throughout the drinking process. Based on taste and that it's only 5.8% (pretty normal for a porter) you can certainly have more than one and enjoy every sip.
Overall I highly recommend this year round brew - but don't take my word for it (yes, Reading Rainbow), get off the interstates and stop in at Main Street Grill and Brewing Co.!

Served on tap into a shaker glass
A- Poured black with big frothy mocha colored head with some big bubbles. Left some clingy lace
S- Big roasty coffee smell and chocolate
T- Big roasty charred espresso taste, some rich chocolatey notes, and a jam like fruitiness (like a raspberry jam)
M- Medium body and very aggressive carbonation, pretty fizzy for the style. Not very creamy or smooth
O- This is a really good porter. Great tasting and in the same league as Edmund Fitzgerald in taste. A little fizzy and not as creamy as I like for the style, but overall very drinkable and a big flavorful coffee forward porter.
