Served in straight pint glass. Poured a clean, clear reddish chestnut color with about 1/3 inch of off-white head that had low-moderate retention and decent lacing. A very pretty brew.
The aroma was very subdued, almost neutral, with very low malts, spice and yeast notes. On the tongue though, the brew gad a large personality. Solid base malts, a trace of dark cherry/plum, and some yeasty spice combined for a very nice taste combination. There was, however, a notably sharp alcohol taste, especially in the first few sips.
The body was a bit thinner than I would have preferred, but was very clean and dry. Drinkability was dangerously good, a few glasses of this would disappear far too quickly I fear. Overall, a bit more body, and a bit less heat, and would make this a fantastic beer. As it is, it's very, very good. A must try if you see it.
