I had to look this up, but apparently Dance At Bougival is a famous painting by Renoir and a remarkably beautiful one at that. Naked City's version is brewed to a Belgian strong golden style with the inclusion of raspberry juice. The beer is then aged in French oak barrels.
Though this is a fine ale, it doesn't achieve the sublime sophistication it might aspire to and is perhaps overly ambitious. It is pale peach colored with light suds and is tart in the sense of fermented fruits with a tannic edge. Nice enough, but a well brewed Belgian golden without the fruit and barrel conditioning might have been a more sensible starting point for a brewery as young as Naked City. This one is just too impressionistic.
