I had this on-tap in a pint glass at Special Brews in Lynnwood, WA. Naked City classifies this as an English brown ale.
Appearance: medium brown hue with a light haze and a finger of ivory foam. A nice lace is left on the glass as I drink.
Smell: bready and caramelly with a little bit of toast and toffee. I really like it.
Taste: similar to the aroma, although a little drier and nuttier. I think this provides a nice complement to the aroma. Really well composed.
Mouthfeel: light body with a decent carbonation for the style.
Overall: highly drinkable. I love the toffee quality here; a tasty treat!

Served in straight pint glass. Poured a clean, clear coppery-amber color with 1/2 inch of light khaki head that had good retention and lacing.
The aroma was on the well built side of typical for the style, some sweet malts, some nice base grains and a light touch of hops for contrast. On the tongue, the beer started out the same as in the aroma, but the hops were crisper and more noticeable, the grains were a bit more pronounced to add some balance, and is it possible that I noticed some peaty smoke at the back of the tongue? Yes, I'm pretty sure I did. An unexpected treat.
The body was good, clean and smooth, with that peat lingering just a bit at the back of the tongue. Drinkability was very good, but that will depend on your taste for the peat. Overall, an interesting take on a style that can be somewhat bland at times. Most certainly worth a trip to NC, or any other bar that has it on tap. A must try if at all possible for you.
