This is going to be one of those reviews that doesn't really reflect how much I enjoyed the beer. Served in straight pint glass. Poured a solid black, think stout-like black, with an inch of medium tan head that had OK retention and good lacing.
The aroma was very good, lots of rich roasted malts, but again, the scent was much more like a stout than a porter. The flavor profile was an expanded version of the scent. Big grains, thick roast, and smooth malts. Again, very stout like.
The body was very big and full for the style, in fact it was, you guessed it, very stout-like. The beer was nice and clean, with a dry, roasty finish. Drinkability was very good, I could see easily having several of these on a rainy Northwest day. Overall, a very good brew that's a must try if you see it. In fact, if the brewery had called this a stout, the numerical scores would have been much higher. Yes, it's that good.
