Bottle from north central France, picked up on one of my rambles. Average tripel, fast fading head on medium amber body. Aroma is burnt toast, oranges, apricots, vinegar. Taste is sour, mild tartness, butterscotch.

33cl longneck brown glass bottle with standard pressure cap served into De Molen stemware in Belfort, France. Reviewed live. Bottle acquired in a supermarket in Belfort.
A: Pours a two finger head of very slight cream, decent thickness, and good retention. Colour is a solid cloudy orange. Generally appealing.
Sm: Orange peel, biscuity yeast, and fermented sugars. A mild strength aroma.
T: Light orange peel, biscuity yeast throughout - but especially on the climax, and a slightly lemony tingle finish. Rather simple and far from refreshing. I expect a beer with orange peel to be refreshing. Maybe I've been drinking too many hefeweissbiers. Built badly and not horribly balanced either.
Mf: Smooth and wet. Too thick to boot. Doesn't really complement the flavours of the body. In particular, the thickness rubs against the biscuity yeast notes the wrong way.
Dr: It's not horribly drinkable on account of the bad flavours, but you could quaff it if you had to. The finish leaves a nasty aftertaste in your mouth, but luckily this doesn't linger too long. The price was pretty fair by French standards until you factor in the low quality. Avoid this one.
