They had this on-tap this past Sunday 8/2/09 during the tapping of the Kentucky Breakfast Stout and Canadian Breakfast Stout kegs from Founders. By the time I got there a little after noon they were out of both, but the dude sitting next to me at the bar was kind enough to let me have a few sips of his Kentucky Breakfast Stout, and they had this on-tap so I opted to try it. Served in a clear, small "coffee mug" type looking glass. Fucking weird. And I am sure it was no where near 12 ounces, maybe 8 or 9 at most (so yeah I do feel like I got a little ripped off considering the price I paid). Anyways, this beer is a dark brown, almost black color that lets in no light at all. It had no head when served to me, just a medium sized off-white foam ring surrounding the inside of the glass. Not much lacing. Aromas of coffee certainly present along with some roasted malts and not much else. Nice roasted coffee bitterness upfront, gives way to some sweet malt undertones and a hint of chocolate. The roasted coffee bitterness lingers and coats the palate. Has a nice crisp, smooth and creamy full bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Easy to drink, but in some ways it was like drinking black coffee more than beer. Pretty good, but next time serve it to me in a bigger glass dammit! I believe this is the most coffee like beer I have ever had so far.
