Citrusy hops and fruity specialty malt character dominate both flavor and aroma. It's slightly sweeter than expected, but the finish dries out nicely.

Maybe I got a bad bottle. But this was super disappointing. Would try again and hope for the best.

Pours a dark red clear color. Not a lot of carbonation and no head is created.
Smell is stronger than most Irish Reds. Very strong malt smells of toffee and caramel.
Taste has more going on than the average Irish Red. Dominated heavily by toffee and caramel malts.
Mouthfeel has a nice thickness. Goes down very smooth and leaves you with a dry mouth wanting another sip.
Drinkability is good on this beer. Easy drinking, much like all Irish Reds, but better tastes than most. A very good selection if you are an Irish Red fan.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.
A slow pour yields an energetic 2-finger tan head. The bubbles snap and pop like a freshly poured soda and within a minute have disappeared. The spots of head left remain a constantly shifting mess as torrents of rising bubbles reach the surface and quickly die. While the show is interesting to watch, the strong carbonation has me worried. The body itself is a clear, dark reddish-copper. There is literally no lacing.
Sweet caramel malt mixes nicely with spicy hops to create a nice aroma.
Caramel and brown sugar rest on the back of the tongue while spicy hops tingle the tip. A dry roasted nuttiness finishes each sip.
Medium bodied with a high carbonation combine with the low ABV of 5.3% to make Redhead very drinkable. The carbonation, while giving a nice fizzy mouthfeel, is not as unnecessarily strong as the appearance would make one assume. It flows over the tongue easily and is easily forgotten as the flavors disappear quickly. It is refreshing and does not interfere with the flavor in food pairings.
All in all, a decent beer by Buckeye, but lower carbonation would have helped the flavors stay on the tongue and the lack of head retention and lacing were most disappointing.

12oz bottle poured into a standard pint glass. Pours a transparent deep red w/ light brown hues. Very nice color, but absolutely no head or lacing. Nice aromas, very roasty. I'm picking up hints of caramel, chocolate, and toffee. All of those can be picked up in the flavors as well. Once again, very toasty and roasty. Slightly grainy. Mouthfeel is very carbonated, WAY too much, pretty prickly; light. Finishes dry and clean. Drinkability isn't bad, low abv makes for good drinking. Smooth, clean brew.
Not a bad Irish Red Ale.. definitely what you would expect from the style. Some flaws, but the flavors help out.
