A: The beer is essentially jet black in color and poured with a finger and a half high beige head that died down a bit but has excellent retention properties and consistently left a thin head covering the surface.
S: There are aromas of dark fruits in the nose-black currants and plums seem to stand out in particular-along with some hints of soy sauce.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and has flavors of soy sauce and molasses and a light amount of associated sweetness. The finish is complex and contains a mixture of the aforementioned flavors as well as mint. No flavors of roasted malts are detectable.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer lacks the roasted malt flavors and dryness commonly associated with beers in this style. The soy sauce flavors seem to be a little detracting from the taste.
