Amber brew in the glass, sort of an ocher shade. Nice foam, really quite attractive. Very sudsy in the mouth, another of its few nice features.
Rather dry for a tripel. Quite peculiar, in fact, but it does deliver plenty of alcohol. Mouth filling but musty. Nutty and woodsy, but the flavor just seems to evaporate. A hint of pear skins. More sawdust than malt. Plenty of what seems like the bitterness of Belgian yeast. A bitter finish, but also a little butter and a hint of plastic. Not very drinkable.
From the 33 cl bottle bought in Dinan.

Beer bottle (33 cl.), tasted in 2010.
Appearance : amber color, with white foamy head (not persistent).
Smell : banana and spices aromas.
Taste and mouthfeel : yeasty, malt and caramel flavours, dry alcohol in the finish.
Drinkability : an average beer in the style Belgian Tripel.

Poured from 33cl bottle into trappist goblet. Best by 22 09 10. Shot out of bottle when uncapped.
Dark color for a tripel, medium brown liquid. Two finger head of offwhite small bubbles settles quickly to a few patches of foam with little lacing.
Very strong ripe banana aroma. Some spice.
Rich malty taste, good complexity. Toasted bread, green grapes, apricots. There is a hint of alcohol, but it's well covered. Some bitterness near finish, finish full and sweet.
Mouthfeel is very full. Warming alcohol sensation in finish.
Drinkable, alcohol well hidden with flavor that keeps you wanting more.
