Poured from the bottle into a standard pint glass.
Appearance: Pours a cloudy dark amber color with two fingers of foamy off white head. The head sticks around very well through the whole pour.
Smell: The smell is very mild. I'm getting some malt and dark fruit, perhaps a touch of Belgian spice.
Taste: Just a bit nutty from the malt, some Belgian yeast spice along with some dark fruit. While this beer is malty, it's not particularly sweet. The finish is bitter, but not overly so.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with fluffy carbonation and a finish that is dry and a bit chalky.
Overall: I brought this back from my trip to Paris. I'm glad I got to try it, but I wouldn't have another, I'd try something different.

Overall: I brought this back from my trip to Paris. I'm glad I got to try it, but I wouldn't have another, I'd try something different.

A: Pours a cloudy walnut color with a fine, light head, which reduces very quickly and leaves little lacing.
S: Smells like a barleywine, only restrained. There are malt and sugar notes, to be sure, but they are faint. Likewise the hops.
T: Like the smell, the flavors are muted. None of the sweetness foretold by the nose comes through on the tongue. There is plenty of hop bitterness, but without the sweetness and aromatics needed for balance.
M: Surprizingly light for a barleywine. Very bubbly. Unfortunately, the alcohol pierces all. This one is hot.
D: It's tough to find a barleywine that demands seconds. This one certainly does not. I had trouble finishing the whole 33cl bottle, which is an unusual problem for me.

A copper in color with some sediment but not much for head or lace
S some caramel with some citrus peel and some spice I can't quite place
T fairly close to the smell there's some booze but it's pretty well concealed
M a little sticky with a silky feel and pretty low carbonation
D interesting beer and I just can't place the flavors, for the strength it's pretty easy to drink
unlike anything I can think of right now, it confused me but I liked it. thanks Dave for bringing this to hoser's from France

According to Simon at the La Cave a Bulles this is a Barleywine and I would have to agree.
Light for a barleywine or a BSDA. Pours a transparent reddish orange. A bone-white cap of foam sits on top for a second before falling into the liquid. The aroma holds suggestions of warm fermentation - ripe banana and alcoholic with a little spiciness from the yeast. Maltiness is there but definitely subdued. In the taste, soft fruitiness and alcohol give way to a bready, slightly toasty warm maltiness in the finish that lingers well into the aftertaste. As it warms, a woodiness comes out with hints of smoke. Not bad, but not too impressive. Definitely different from anything I have had. Finishes with slight sweetness, but the moderate carbonation has a drying effect. Light bodied for the gravity.

Pours a brownish amber with a minimal head that doesn't stay around. Nose is candy-like. Not obnoxiously sweet, but still quite all the same. I feel like I want to peg it as a candy apple. Flavor is quite interesting. There is a too noticed alcohol tone. However, I think that is because it is being drunk too young. Beyond that, there are fruity malts and grain attributes well in the back. Feel is slick on liquid and the carbonation is full. The verdict on this is good. However. I believe that several years of age might develop some very interesting characteristics. As it stands now though, the alcohol tones are too noticed. But it is still a nice beer and a good example of the potential of the artisanal beer market in France.
