funny. i was in the tahoe area looking for this specific beer. Drive to the brewery and thery're closed for renovation. Whatever... that's not why i go to lake. Then i come home to Sacramento and go to a place I never go to get Stone 5.5.5 and they don't have it; but they have this HefeWiezen. I've been in a Hefe mood lately.
Appearance: Banana slug yellow, cloudy can't see through it. Haven't seen anything like it. Good head. great lace
Smell: bit of banana.some bread..the yeast comes through and dominates the smell
Taste: mmm that's good stuff. more German than American tasting but different than any German's. There is some sweetness with the bitterness, which is more like tartness. Like liquid banana bread.(seriously)
Mouthfeel is medium bodied. The drinkablity is great...hard to stop putting this stuff down.
Great easy drinker that has some complexity none the less. I guess the distrbution is pretty limited on this stuff but i found some in the sacrmamento area. If you see it, buy it. It's a unique Hefe.

Pours a nice cloudy yellow leaving a thin head and slight lacing, but I fudged the pour a bit. The bottle retained most of the yeast leaving a thick coating on the bottom and trailing off up the side.
The smell was sweet yet spicy, similar to banana nut bread. The taste is just as the smell suggests, spicy at first and coming into a fruity, grainy, sweet finish.
Mouthfeel was creamy, with little carbonation tingling the tip of the tongue.
Overall a pretty good Hefe that I could drink regularly. An added bonus for me is that the brewery is close so I can just drive up to the lake if I want it fresh. I may have to go pick some up in the coming weeks.

Lovely, cloudy yellow/beige with fine, melting yeast at the bottom of the bottle. The head is sworled white and deliciously uneven.
Aromas and flavors are of green bananas, lemon seed and raw coriander/hemp seed. Volatile, flammable oil flavors there. Interesting. There is a savory, almost salty quality as the broad, voluptuously textured body finally disappears on the finish. As it warms, sweet banana becomes more prominent, though always checked by a peppery, Coleman fuel-like bitterness. I'm puzzled. I expect this is the result of some bitter hop extraction, but did they use coriander too? apple seeds? cannabis? Or is it just the yeast expressing itself?...hmmm It's a flavor that would not be too hard to get used to, and finally one that is refreshing.
