It's hard enough to find a Doppelsticke, and to see one coming out of Brazil takes some real doing. This Bamberg creation was brough to me from Guilherme, thanks again my friend! From a 355 ml bottle, on to the beer:
Ruby red or ruby brown? Looks more red than brown, but either way, it's attractive. A small head is formed on top, leaving a few spots of lace around. The aroma is attractive as well, and comes in good quantity. The aromas of rum soaked raisins, caramel, liqueur, and toasted malt are all agreeable to the nostrils.
Complex, delectable, and full of flavor without filling you up. The flavor of plums start the journey, which are quickly taken over by raisins. The alcohol makes its move, but is disguised as rum and chocolate liqueur. A snap of bread crust works into the melody. No hop bitterness in sight, but the beer is very well balanced and not overly sweet. It's medium full bodied wih smooth carbonation, and it drinks well for an 8% ABV beer.
I have a new Bamberg favorite here. This is a delicious doppelsticke. Keep on producing it Alexandre!
