Draught in Phoenixville: This one pours a cloudy orangish-amber color. There was a small white head to it. It has a balanced hop nose, with notes of cirtus and floral. The taste doesnt have the bite of some other IPAs. The flavor is more subdued, but not weak by any stretch of the imagination. There is a full maly body to it. I got a bit more hop flavor in the aftertaste, but still no "bite". Very good!

All fours for this fine, hoppy IPA. At 7.2%, the malt was not overbearing. It reminded me of a West Coast IPA.
We visited Sly Fox in Phoenixville for dinner on the last night of our 2005 Mid-Atlantic Baseball and Beer Tour. We enjoyed what seemed like a 12 beer sampler, and in my opinion, this was the best beer on the menu.
Upon receiving our beer sampler, this beer had great color and a wonderful piney, citrusy smell. The taste was certainly different from our massively hopped West Coast IPA's. But it was refreshing, and the malt served to provide a really nice IPA. With dinner, I ordered a pint to further enjoy the subtleties of this great brew. I only wish they had some other IPA's from the IPA project to accompnay this one.

Appears a light amber with a small white head that lasts for a minute. Tiny streaks of lacing are left behind.
The smell is of light blends of spicy wood chips, pine, grass, and citrus.
The taste is of the same mild blend of aromas that are not overpowering but not overly complex either.
The mouthfeel has an even tone that finishes semi dry with a tiny bit of a spicy bite and mild sour like ending.
Drinkability...I can't rate this as good because there is some alcohol that is evident here and there is also an odd "vomit" like aroma that lingers in the background of this beer. It's a bit hard to explain. It's not overly noticable but you get mild whiffs and tastes of it occasionaly.

Sampled from a growler bought at the Phoenixville location. Dark amber body with a tall off white foamy head that leaves a light webbing of lace on the glass. Earthy and citric hops are strong in the nose with almost equally big malt. Nicely balanced with the edge to the hop and you can tell this will be bitter. Citric grapefruit hops kick of the flavor with a big doughy malt base. Some caramel notes and a nice bitter bite to it. Earthy hops are noted as well. The bitterness keeps the malt at the back and the hops in the spotlight. Ends with dry bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel is solid with a prickly feel due to the bitterness. Really drinkable stuff as well. The growler went down easily and I could have had more. I will definitely have to make it to one of their IPA events as it seems they know their IPAs.
