The dark brown, almost mahogany colored, beer pours out into a Duvel glass with a 1/2” fluffy tan head that persists well and leaves a ring of lacing on the sides of the glass as it slowly recedes to a thin covering of the liquid. Sipping creates sheets of lacing that visibly turn into lots of scattered patches and small legs of lacing.
The aromas are pretty much all about dark roasted coffee beans along with some dark roasted malt.
The flavors, as expected from the nose, are mostly about the coffee but here there’s also some chocolate and some sweet caramel from the malt. There’s a dark roasted, almost nutty, bitterness that doesn’t show any burnt character at all and has a bit of earthiness and grassiness from the hops.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied and fairly smooth from the gentle, persistent carbonation. The finish begins as the sweetness and other flavors fade to a dry dark coffee flavored ending in the front of the palate and just a bit of bitterness in the middle of the palate.
Overall I like this beer and look forward to having another. While it’s not an overly complex beer it is a well made well balanced beer with the coffee up front and in the starring role but that coffee is well supported by the other flavors.

From a tap in a clear pint glass, a standard very dark brown stout with a lovely tan head and glass lacing. The roasted coffee catches more of the nose than the roasted malt. Reasonably smooth for the light way it drinks, the coffee and malt seem to be in perfect balance. They provide a rich flavor without any excesses. This a well crafted brew.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Nearly clear dark brown pour... nearly black with 2 fingers of foamy tannish head. Nice ring of lacing.
S: Coffee and roasted grains.
T.F: Espresso up front... modest earthy hops and bitterness. Chocolate malt/grains. Light bodied and well carbonated. More coffee and light roast at the finish.
O: A pretty average coffee porter. Easy drinking and kind of forgettable.

Pours very dark brown, almost black. Nice thick, dark tan head very slowly fades to a thin lingering foam. Smells malty, coffee, yeasty, slightly sweet. Feels minimal carbonation, buttery in mouth, clean swallow. Tastes malty, very slightly sweetened coffee. A bit of dark bitter chocolate and a little caramel. Coffee flavor is not overpowering. Very easy to drink.

Best by 05/07/19.
Enjoyed on 02/20/19.
L. Pretty much opaque black, tight light tan head.
S. Nutty, graham, toasted malt, dark chocolate, abundance of mildly sweet coffee.
T. Coffee right away without much bitterness, nutty and bready, more coffee, mild caramel and chocolate, bitter coffee and cocoa toward the end. Smoother as it warmed with more roasted nuts, coffee, and a hint of sweeter chocolate.
F. A bit thinner than medium bodied, pretty decent carbonation, no alcohol warming.
O. As advertised, a good porter with an obvious coffee presence that, for me, never became too bitter. Not bad at all. Cheers!

Had on tap the the brewery. Pours clear, dark brown in color with 1/3 inch head. Taste is coffee, cola, and cocoa. Medium-light bodied, moderate carbonation, sweet and roasty. Nice coffee and beer combo taste. Still tastes like beer. Would get this again.

Appearance: dark brown in color with a 1" head that lasts a bit.
Smell: some malt and chocolate softly rises from the glass.
Taste: roasted malts, dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, and a mild bitterness.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied. Crisp to start, less crisp at the finish.
Overall: a good coffee porter that is well balanced.

An almost solid black/brown color. Low carbonation, above average body, creamy thick feel. Aroma was wesk, malt and coffee but not outstanding. Taste was roasted mslt,an almost mocha like candy taste. There was some milk chocolate and cream flavor that showed up as well. Overall I would definitely get this again, was a very decent coffee porter
