Pours an orangy amber color, thin creamy white head, minimal lacing and some retenion. Smell is of citrusy, floral and herbal hops, bready malts, hay, earth. Taste folows scent with a citrusy, herbal and floral hop flavor with hints of pine resin, backed with a nice malt profile. Somewhat earthy taste to the back end. Medium bodied but slightly over carbonated. Dry finnish. Good IPA from straight forward ingredients.

On tap at The Drafting Room Exton.

A-Pours a hazy golden amber with a fluffy tan head and some sticky lacing.

S-Floral and earthy hops in abundance with a good caramel malt backing.

T-Delicious. Citrus and pine hops followed by an earthy hop bite at the end.

M-Medium bodied and a bit dry.

D-Very nicely drinkable. The best single hop Sly Fox IPA I have had.

Growler fill from a tapped yesterday, cooled overnight sixtel.

Served in a standard pint glass, the beer is a hazed orange/amber color with a good sized beige head that left specks of lacing on the glass.
The aroma is filled with a sweet citrus smell.
The taste is sweet citrus upfront with some maltiness before a super-bitter finish bites through the swallow and after taste.
Medium bodied with a good carbonation feel to it.
Good drinkability to a point because eventually the bitterness will numb your tongue.

Poured into a plastic sampler cup at a Sly Fox tasting at Bierkraft in Brooklyn.

A--Darker of the two IPA projects we tried, the other of which was Aurora: deep orange, nearly amber. Think tequila sunrise or Arizona sunset.

S--Less citric, more gently floral. Definitely a subtler hop variety for a big style of beer. I got some deep rose and magnolia in there, along with the usual generic nectar type smells.

T--Really interesting. Hops come in waves, with first floral, then an even more glancing brush of mainly grapefruit, followed by just a ripple of earthy grassiness (that one's faint, and hard to discern--gives off a feel of some spice, too, that I couldn't quite pin down). Finish was the driest of all the beers we had.

M&D--Mouthfeel's the strongest of the beers I sampled from Sly Fox--super creamy and mellow. Drinkability is excellent given the lower ABV for the style.

A great IPA to stick with--is a session IPA an oxymoron? Dry, careful, masterful underscoring of the virtues of a great hop variety. Really pulled out its complexities without overdoing it.

The number one pick from the 2008 IPA project day on 12/12/2008.

A-Hazy copper with a thin off-white head that retained well but left only spotty lace.

S-Citrus pop and a bit of pine-like resin. A bit of caramel malt sweetness in the background.

T-Zing! Aggressive spicy citrus tart hop bite! A support of caramel malt in the background. Really fresh and bright.

M-Medium-light body with a crisp feel. Long lasting hop bitterness.

D-As stated before this was the pick of the day. Not surprised since Amarillo hops are one of my most favorite varieties. This one was bright, fresh and packed a serious amount of hop goodness flavour.

There are so many listings for this beer between the two Sly Fox sites, that I just decided to slap it down here. Of the many IPA varietals sampled at the Project IPA 2008 festivities, I deemed this one my favorite, so it got the full pint treatment from me. Served on tap at the Phoenixville brewpub on 12/12/08.

Pours a clear copper amber with a thin head of brite-white foam. Retains around the edges with some thin wisps in the center, leaving some decent looking lace behind but not a lot of it. The aroma is just as advertised. Fresh Amarillo hops all around that give off notes of flowers and pine, spice and citrus, with some bready caramel content underneath that helps balance the nose out.

The taste posesses a nice dry resinous bitterness that's got some nice notes of spice and a bit of a herbal feel as well. This hop punch only lasts for a couple of seconds though, as it fades into a silky backbone of bisquits and caramel. The hops reemerge in the finish though to end things with a lingering dry and bitter feel. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with fairly creamy carbonation but there is a bit of a prickle that emerges as well.

Nicely done single varietal IPA that is well balanced and proudly shows the glory of the quite flavorful Amarillo hop. It was a nice way to end the final IPA Project.

On tap at Sly Fox Phoenixville for the 2008 IPA Project on 12/12/08.

A - Hazy orange/light copper-colored body with half a finger of off-white head that retained pretty well but left virtually no lacing at all.

S - Complex aroma with hints of herbal and earthy hops as well as some citrus and resin. There's also a touch of alcohol present.

T - Aggressive hop flavor with hints of citrus, herbs and a subtle mint character. Malt flavor is primarily burnt caramel and subtle toasted grains.

M - Medium body with moderate carbonation and oily texture. Aggressive bitter finish with minimal but apparent alcohol sting.

D - Solid single hop varietal IPA with a complex hop profile. This was the definite favorite at our table, so we all shared a pitcher. Amarillo is quite a well-rounded, versatile hop and packs a lot of flavor.

Big thanks goes out to Dr Jay as always for providing me with a continual supply of Sly Fox goodies that just really never gets old. This was the latest in the 2008 release I could not wait to try. Growler was served cold and poured into a pint glass. Consumed on 11/14/2008.

The pour was you standard fair for an exceptional IPA. Nice and deep orange amber color ruled the day here. Nice clarity let you get a good look at the carbonation that was bubbling up toward the surface throughout the session. A rich looking white head of about an inch and a half came through rather nicely and reached a height of around an inch and never looked back from there.

The aroma was thick. Deep and very resin filled hops were all over this one. Huge notes of a twisted and thick orange citrus that was just dripping it was soo fresh. Carried over well into the flavor which again was just top notch. Rolling across the palate with a medium body this just wreaked of fresh pine hops. Nice bite in the front as it twisted around your gums, mellowing though as it came to the mid palate and warmed a little. Showing a slight malt note here, hints of a mild biscuit like tone were comign to fruition now and just then, whap, a dose of bitter orange flavored hops seals the deal and lets this one had a long ride into the sunset.

What can I say, another really solid and very unique IPA from Sly Fox. You really cannot go wrong with these here, everyone this year has been just top notch and this was no exception.
