2009 Hop Project Beer
A: Crystal clear amber body. Thin off-white head. Spotty lacing left behind.
S: Herbal and floral notes. Tea like in composition. Caramel and bread malt are also present in a healthy dose.
T: More herbal and floral bitterness. The caramel and bready malt gets progressively more intense as the beer warms. By the end it drowns out the subtle hop flavors.
M: Medium bodied. Has a lingering after-taste that is somewhat cloying by the end.
D: A bit of a miss here. My #9 of the 11 single-hop hop project brews.

On tap at Capones.
Poured a medium amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of graininess, floral, caramel, and some citrus. Tastes of toasted grains, caramel, and some citrus. This was a drinkable Pale Ale, but there wasn't anything that really stood out that would want me to specifically seek it out again.

Sly Fox- Sovereign Pale Ale
A- Golden copper with a moderate head tight bubbles and good lacing.
S- Strong dried malt. Barley, Sunflower seeds, and a touch of fruits like grape come through.
T- Sweet sunflower seed, barley, and seseme seed malts. Nice hints of brown sugar, grapefruit, and floral hops finish off this 1.
M- Thick sweet malt with a dry body and a sweet hoppy finish.
Overall- Very crisp, clean, and flavorful. A good sessionable Pale Ale. Too bad this is an experimental brew.

Another in the single hop series, 2009. Very clear pale amber with a thin, whitish cap that settled to a collar. Lots of spotty lace. The aroma had a nice balance of bready and caramel malts with a mild hop character, a little lemony and floral with a continental vibe. Bitterness was soft up front and allowed the sweetness of the malt to come forward, but hop flavour kicked in mid-palate and led into a moderately bitter finish that left hops lingering on the tongue. Light to medium bodied, a bit on the dry side with average carbonation. Nice texture overall. Quite drinkable. A clean, straightforward pale ale. Good stuff.
