cool brew done for their anniversary, thanks to my boy for sharing! i love these cans where you can rip the whole lid off and get your nose in there while drinking it without exposing it to any light, but we were sharing so we poured it. a slightly richer deeper color to this than anticipated, squarely in the orange range, showing more malt than a lot of these have these days, a big high white head on it has great retention, and its cloudy without being starchy looking and full of sediment. the aroma is big piney hops, starting to fade, i did not see a date on this but its falling off at this point for sure, slight cardboard to the grain. the flavor is about the same, grapefruit and orange peel citrus hop profile with some decent bitterness for a hazy, some grain sweetness and body to balance, emerging oxidation makes it sort of barleywine-esque for a moment with the alcohol after its come up to temperature, and there is a yeast character to this that i like, to me its almost english for a second, maybe partially because its older, but thats how it presents itself. cool beer from a cool brewery, wish i tried it brand new, but better late than never, i have always been a fan of what they do. this is sturdy and full, kind of wintery to me with the hop profile, well made, real big.

Silver Fox from Sly Fox. Purchased 0n 27/1/21 for $ 4.00 (Including tax) for 16 oz can ($ 0.250/oz) from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. In reefer at store and stored at home at 42 degrees. Reviewed 3/2/21.
Stamped on bottom rim “BEST BY 03/11/21”. Served at 48 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 56.3 degrees.
Appearance – 4.25.
First pour – Pale Gold (SRM 4), slight haze.
Body – Deep Gold (SRM 6), hazy. When rear-lite, translucent and effervescence is evident.
Head – Large (Maximum six cm, aggressive center pour), antique white, high density, average retention, leaving a four to twenty-seven mm sculpted crown, and a thick partial cap. Three-dimensional pieces of lacing remain on the glass as the head retracts. Second pour produces a 1.3 cm head.
Lacing – Excellent! Torn curtain lacing that resembles Old Khmer script. Quite attractive!
Aroma – 3.75 – Initially malty, weak resin on the back end, no yeast.
Flavor – 4 – Begins toffee-malty and slightly sweet followed by some conifer resin in the background. No yeast. No alcohol (8.5 % ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma. Slight gastric warming from first swallow on. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 4 – Medium, slightly syrupy, soft carbonation. Works well with the flavor and aroma. As it warms, it seems to thin slightly.
Final impression and summation: 4 Well, not as malty as a wee heavy, not as bitter or hoppy as an imperial IPA. Generally well-balanced malt and hop bills (Whatever they are) leading to a well-balanced brew with an unexpected taste. Even the palate seems appropriate for the flavor. Prosit! To another 25 years of Sly Fox brewing!

Poured into a narrow pint glass: color is dark gold, head is off white/light tan with fine bubbles, head presents 1+ inches thick and then dissipates to solid top with nice lacing on the glass sides.
Smell is lightly sweet, touch of caramel, touch of honey, solid piney bitterness but not overpowering, some earth and pith as well.
Taste is moderately sweet caramel malt, light honey, then piney and resinous hops first with light fruit and citrus following up. This might seem a bit sweet but then you realize its strength and its really well balanced.
Mouthfeel is moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, moderate bitterness.
Overall a nice surprise in the days of haze - a new DIPA that hits great marks with some decent malt character and moderate bitterness that leans piney.

16 oz can
Pours orange golden, thick white head. Good head retention. Old school DIPA flavors - good malt and bitterness balance, hops are mix of pine resin and citrus. Medium bodied, sticky mouthfeel

looks like a nice winner from a local brewery. Great job, Sly Fox!
L: Drinking from the can. Sorry, but I love this can. The entire top pops off and it's like the can turns into a glass - I'm a big fan!
S: subdued. bit of citrus and caramel. Not a strong point.
T: Starts off a bit sweet. Takes on a bit of richness, then ends with bitter notes. I like!
F: rich - nice. medium carbonation
O: I like these guys, and this is a strong offering. Check it out!

The story begins with a big pop as the ring is broken free of the top of a pint can. An abundance of carbonation makes the pour into a clear glass liter mug almost a challenge. There's a big fluffy head atop the brew. The glass lacing is notable, too. The color of the liquid is a dark amber. Roasted malt is somewhere in the aroma, but it's mostly hops. That's the way the taste goes, there's some malt in there, but it's mostly hops. They hit at the beginning and carry through the finish. These aren't the dainty hops of many a hazy, these are resinous, bitter and biting. Some of the 8.5% ABV is apparent, probably adding to the bite, but it doesn't really drink boozey. It drinks hoppy with a little sweetness courtesy of the alcohol and what malt can be found.

A - Slight haze with slow and steady carbonation, dark orange in color and dense white lacing circling the glass.
S - Sweet caramel malt and citrus aroma.
T - Sweet malt base from start to finish with citrus and stone fruit while ending with a moderate piney, citrus bitterness. Starts sweet and then ends more on the balanced side with lingering resiny citrus and pine.
M - Very thick for the style with carbonated pricklies on the tongue.
O - A very well balanced Double IPA.

Whole top of this can peels off like their Hells. Jeez, this ain’t my favorite local brewer. Anyway let’s give er a try. Pishaw, this has a nice hazy deep golden look with a big thick head. Some citrus notes on the nose but not the punch I was hoping for. Well blended and not sweet but not the normal bitter stuff from this brewery. Not too bad. Medium thickness and some carbonation in there. Not too bad.
