my very first from these guys, tasty and relatively simple and clean, just a blonde ale for the most part, but one thats obviously quite professionally made, and an easy drinker for sure. i like that its light but not sterile, and even though there is almost no hop profile on it, there is enough from the grain and the yeast to make this more interesting than the generic blonde ale, even if only a little bit, sometimes thats all it takes to make a beer distinct in a style like this. there is an almost cream ale character to this, especially on the grain side, a crispness and a little earthy rawness, drier than a lot of blondes too, and i think that lends to drinkability. the yeast to me has a little pizza dough fermentation thing going on, like proofing dough getting puffy, its subtle, but i like that beer than an invisible fermentation profile in this instance, and it works really well with what i can taste from the grain, well refined but also a little rustic at the same time, which i love. high carbonation, a little bit of body from the malt, and a beer that really scratches the itch for something golden and light but not too boring. ill look for more beers from blacksmith next time im in montana!
