Pint on-tap at The Sir Walter Scott, Edinburgh Airport (£4.35):
Not a bad beer for a contract brew at all really, this one was fairly enjoyable without really being memorable at all; maybe that had something to do with it being first thing in the morning when I sampled the beer this time. It was an easy beer to drink but I couldn't help but thinking that a regular IPA from Devil's Backbone's stateside operation would be so much better than this one. Not a bad beer by any means but certainly not as good as I'd have hoped for.

On tap at local craft beer pub
Look: darker than expected, very little head, with lots of lacing
Smell: kind of disappointing light lemon and floral notes, not the big aroma I was expecting
Taste: bitter, citrus, with a warm malt finish. Again I was expecting more, there are hops in there, but they don't stand out as much as they could.
Feel: good to very good, very smooth and silky
Overall: a good IPA but not as special as the price, and distance traveled would have you think. Of the American IPAs this one would be great, if it had a bit more oomph!

On draft at The Bridge House, Belfast.
Pale gold with a white cap that sheets. 4
Lychee and tangerine nose. 3.75
Slight grain, them lemon, pith and lemon hops - low on aroma. Opens into fruitiness as it warms. 3.75
Rindy finish and aspirin linger.
Crisp, light, dry, and salty. 4
Ruthlessly lean and minerally with real IBUs. They certainly didn’t want you to forget this wasn’t a British IPA, but to do that at 5.5%, they sacrificed all the aroma hopping. English sensibilities at American volumes. 4
