Hazy and honey-colored, this multigrain pale ale was created to celebrate the bounty of the mountains! Barley & wheat malt combined with flaked corn and toasted wheat form a beer perfect for an autumn weekend.

Poured from a bottle into a glass.
OVERALL: A decent, malt-forward pale that's not over hopped or pretending to be an IPA. The initial flavors are a little brash, thus the "rustic" i suppose.
LOOK: A lemon honey color with a minimal head and tiny particles that stay suspended throughout. Not quite hazy, but close.
SMELL: Faint aroma of malt, maybe a little hops, slightly sour.
TASTE: A slight tartness at first, almost like what you might get from a roggenbier. Quite yeasty and bready in the middle with a hint of bitterness at the end. This hint is deep, back-of-the-tongue bitterness, not a bright or piney hop bitterness.
MOUTHFEEL: A medium body. Maybe a little slick.

I got this one in a Devil's Backbone sampler twelve pack that included Spider Bite and Schwartz Bier. All of those beers including this one are scarcely reviewed so I intend to review each one. That aside, I am very intrigued by this "Rustic Multi-Grain Ale".
Look: Slightly hazed honey golden-orange body with a creamy off white head that fades somewhat quickly. The lacing was loose.
Smell: Mildly sweet and fruity from the ale yeast.
Taste: A rich, balanced, and complex flavor with lots of toasted wheat and fruity ale yeast upfront. There is a grassy hop bite in the middle that supports the sweetness and a juicy, lingering finish. Overall the taste reminds me of unfiltered honey. Very autumnal without even trying.
Feel: This brew was made with barley, flaked corn, and toasted wheat but the mouthfeel is quite clean. A medium body overall, but there are unique moments of juiciness at the end that makes it very quaffable.
Overall: I really enjoyed this one, it was definitely something unique and I always look for new takes on a style.

Pours a medium dark gold, slightly cloudy with a white head that has almost no retention. The aroma is initially bright and citrusy but quickly becomes malty, but not with any distinct characteristics. The taste is malty but again, with nothing really distinct about it. The body has a nice feel to, a little heavy, smooth for the most part but with a little carbonated tingle on the finish.
