On tap for the devils backbone brewpub in Virginia.
Pours almost midnight black with a tan head of about a half inch.
Heavy chocolate smell and not much else.
Taste is like chocolate syrup mixed with liquor burn underneath.
Average feel for an imperial stout enough carbonation to give it texture.
Had high hopes for this beer going in. It did not live up to its reputation. So overloaded on chocolate that it covers any other notes that it might have.

Great Cocoa overtones without being too sweet for an imperial Stout. Indeed this is a nicely balanced imperial. For us it ranks quite highly! Bourbon, bacon and beer. Watch out for the alcohol taste!

Deep and dark, aromas of cocoa, dark malts. Taste is deep, thick, coating and has plenty of roasted malts, chocolate and an overall good balance with a moderate amount of alcohol burn

The beer pours a nice light brown head that dissipates fairly quickly while the beer itself is a nice dark chocolate black. I looks very nice and definitely well done but nothing above that it looks really good.
The smell and taste are great even though the taste is much better than the smell. The smell has a nice and soft cocoa smell with a moderate light caramel and sweet milk chocolate smell that mix together very well. The taste has the same notes but a much more delicious caramel note that is slightly more intense but doesn't do anything to upset the balanced notes.
The feel is good.. It's a heavy body with a syrup like slickness to it and fuzzy carbonation to give it a nice texture.
Overall, this is a pretty good beer worth getting if it's available. It's a good solid Imperial stout worth having.

Poured from the tap into a tulip glass at the Distillery in Savannah, Georgia. The appearance is a rich dark brown color with a large tan head. The aroma is sweet malts. A very good Imperial Stout.
