Sewage
This was so awful I poured it out after only a few sips. It has a taste half extreme bitter and half metallic. I was very disappointed. Devil's Backbone usually makes outstanding beers.

12/4/17...pours cloudy gold, thick, virtually no foam. Very faint nose, slight citrus. Chalky bitter, malty, wall of bitter. Reminiscent of a helles, but deeper. Edgy for a Kolsch ale. Any citrus is drowned in the bitter.

Stray bottle left behind from a variety pack a friend brought over, bottling date is in August 2017 (can't read the day thanks to a smudge, just month and year.)
Appearance is pretty nice -- it's got a good golden sort of color to it, forms a nice layer of white foam on top when first poured (which has since shrank and is now on its way to being an "island" of foam in the middle of the glass.) Seems slightly hazy, and when I shine a light through I can see lots of little bubbles rising.
Smell is coming across as a slight bread-dough sort of thing, maybe something fruity going on there too. After taking a sip or two the fruitiness is easier to pinpoint as a grapey wine-y sort of thing similar to what's going on in the flavor. Pretty nice, albeit mild -- but Kolsch isn't really intended as a big, "in your face" sort of beer so that works.
Flavor is matching the smell -- light bready malt, with something fruity (almost reminiscent of white grapes or wine) coming in behind. This time around I'm noticing an odd sort of... almost chalky?... thing coming in after that. Very dry despite the sweetish flavors. The grape/wine sort of flavor seems to be the one that lingers the longest, which is pleasant. I'm not noticing the sorta-chalky thing so much on the second sip -- really more like a gulp -- but I *did* notice a faint hint of something resembling grassy/spicy/herbal hops on the end. Maybe Noble hops or a related variety, which would make sense for a Kolsch. After drinking most of the glass, burps are coming up white-wine-grape fruity with a tiny hint of hoppy bitter/spice to them -- nice!
The feel is pretty nice overall, light enough to be very drinkable but not feeling watery. A little fizzy, almost prickly at times but not to the point that it's distracting.
Overall, this was a pretty nice little beer that I'm glad I managed to get a chance to review -- a surprisingly "traditional" beer in an underappreciated style hanging out among a variety pack that was mostly oddball-ingredient-added sorts of beers, I never actually bought the variety pack it came in, but I was able to sample all but one of the beers from it thanks to both my sister and one of my girlfriend's friends buying one and sharing. I'm a bit surprised that the ratings for this are so low -- it's not something world-changing, but I'd say it's definitely better than an "okay" 3/5.

Boned 08.03.17
Light copper in color with plenty of small bubbles and a 1 finger white head that dissipates rapidly to zero. Looks like a fizzy wine.
Aroma like a dry white wine with toasty malts. Earthy citrus.
Dry in taste and somewhat vinous. Light bitter hops.
Pretty crisp with a light body. Drying. Good retention.
Way better than I expected from the reviews. Mine was definitely not flat. Except for the color, I'd call it true to style.

I'm sad to say I'm not digging DB's newest Adventure Pack, all of the beers are the cusp but fall short. This one was ok, pretty nondescript.

Poured a clear light gold with pale head.
Light aroma that was earthy/grassy with a hint of citrus.
Grain taste. Kind of flat and average feel. Was expecting more from the description. Not a bad brew but not great either.

Golden yellow in color with no visible carbonation and very very minimal head that disappates rapidly. Aroma is light and has a bit of grain smell. Taste is of grain, etc., is cool feeling but even though it is a Kolsch, it is very flat and lackluster. Mouthfeel is sweet grain and finish is cool and just ok.
