8/4/18...light amber brown, small layer of white foam w/ some persistency. Vanilla footed dunkel nose and very light fruit. Apple/apricot infused malt taste - juicy burst and then a fade. Sharp bitter bites through the cidery close.

DATE: February 10, 2018... OCCASION: a full Saturday finds the last of the our endeavors watching The Battle of the Five Armies.... GLASSWARE: Jever flute... pours a dark amber body, lively to a degree, and varying in its tone... the off-white crags, pillowing and thick, with streaks of cloud floating across the glass... smells of thick toasted bread, faint orange and apricot, light tea leaves, and just a smidgen of chocolate.... first sip is thin, with some texture at mid-drink, and a softening, pleasant finish...the rather dry finish, with some muddiness.... apple, pear, apricot, toasted malts, earthy hops, a hint of chocolate, and some leathery notes... this one evokes a range of feelings, and though it isn't a strong profile--nor is it one I would seek out again, as it is the weakest of the family recipe offerings--it is an above average mix of fruit and malts....

Poured from 12 oz bottle into pilsner glass. Poured a clear amber with thick cream colored head. Hints of malt and fruit on the nose. Taste of sweet malt and slight apricot tartness on the finish. Like another reviewer I was unimpressed at first but finished well. Nice brew.

Pours apricot/amber in color. Thick haze like unfiltered fruit juice, with a 1 1/2 finger off white head.
Aroma of over ripe apricots and toasty malts.
Taste is toasted malts, then tart apricot with moderately bitter hops.
Medium full in body with moderate carbonation. Rather sticky and drying. Good retention.
This beer gets better as it goes. I wasn't really impressed at first, but it came together in the end. The taste matured, and it had a great feel.
