A-Slightly hazed, deep reddish orange copper with a thin white head that reduced to a thin ring and left spotty lace.
S-Rich, bready caramel malt with a bit of hop spiciness.
T-Rich caramel malt with a touch of roastiness. Subtle hint of butterscotch.
M-Medium bodied and very smooth. Light, lingering sweetness.
D-Quite drinkable. Not overloaded with flavour but it has enough to hold ones interest. Simple, yet tasty and smooth.

Devil's Backbone Alpen Bock, growler courtesy of dkachur - thanks!
Appearance: Pours a hazed caramel amber with a relatively fast-fading offwhite head. The lacing is runny, glittery, fast-fading; the collar is thin to practically non-existent, and the sheen is, well, definitely nonexistent. Not too much goin' on here.
Aroma: Mild and subtle, with faint hints and flourishes of overripe bananas, sweet dough, milky butterscotch. A little watered down.
Taste: Relatively sweet, very doughy, with bready, caramel notes, definite butterscotch, slight banana, a few other stray fruits, green apple or just light, green earthiness, and slight gummy bear/marshmallow overtones. Probably this beer's best aspect.
Mouthfeel: Not terribly well carbonated, but dry enough that it's not thick or sticky or heavy as a result. Just a relatively subtle, lifeless, medium bodied brew.
Drinkability: A pretty average brew, probably near the bottom of the barrel of the ones I've had from Devil's Backbone thus far. It's not bad - not too high in alcohol, nor does it have any strange off flavors - but it's just not particularly good.
