Pours pale yellow with a 1/2" white head, which slowly fades. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is floral, citrus, bread, grass.
Taste is mango, lemon, slight pine, bread, malty.
Medium bodied, lively carbonation. Dry finish.
Very nice IPA.

Devils Backbone Brewing Co. "München On Hops"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, "BEST BY 11.04.20 16:44:52"
$2 @ Giant, Havertown, PA
Notes via stream of consciousness: I just realized that this is a collaboration beer done with Spaten. It's hazy and golden beneath a standard head of densely foamy white. The aroma is floral, fruity (apple, citrus), herbal, and spicy over a sweetish and grainy malt base. The malt is revealed in the taste, gently bready and sweetish, but then the herbal, floral, fruity, and spicy hops step in. It finishes dry and spicy with a suggestion of pine. It's interesting and I'm not sure I've ever tasted a combination of hops quite like it. The question is, is it interesting enough to keep you coming back for more? The malt is decent enough but it doesn't have the richness that you get from decoction mashing so the hops are really the show here. A stiff bitterness anchors it, and as noted, it finishes dry. In the mouth it's medium bodied and crisp. In the end I find it interesting, and certainly enjoyable, but not quite exciting enough to make me want to go out and buy more.

Picked up a 12pk for $13 so why not? Can't go wrong with Späten or Devil's Backbone right?
Well if you like tropical IPA's this is for you. If you are expecting anything remotely German, keep browsing.
It smells like Lymon, pineapple, grapefruit and maybe some malt aroma hiding in the background.
Pours a golden color with a satisfactory white head that leaves some scattered lacing.
To me it tastes like every other IPA out there.
It has a strange taste on the swallow.
I'm glad I didn't stock up on this one!
I was hoping for something like the Zombiefest I brewed this year for the holidays but ended up with a super fruity IPA.
No wonder it was cheap!

Draft at Fins in Bethany Beach DE. Pours clear gold with a nice off-white head. Initial impression is standard IPA fare (citrus, etc) but with an Oktoberfest overlay (or maybe a standard Oktoberfest with an IPA overlay?) Mouthfeel is clean and refreshing. Finish is smooth and leans toward the Oktoberfest profile. Overall, an interesting but not particularly compelling collab.

12 oz bottle with a 27 October 2020 BB date stamp on the label, served in a lager glass.
Pours with a clear golden body that's filled with fine grained carbonation bubbles that rise to a fine white head.
I'm not sure what makes this a "Bavarian IPA". I'd guess it would be, at least in part, the use of German hops. While the flavor partially suggests this, the aroma carries citrus and other fruity notes i associated with American hops. In any case, it's well crafted with some complexity and nuance that's to often lacking in IPAs.

Light gold with some chill haze, clears as it warms. Thin white head, good retention and lace.
Generic tropical fruit hop aroma, a little bready malt underneath
Bready malt, light tropical hops
Dry but medium-full bodied, could use a touch more carbonation
I get what they're going for, but meh

12oz bottle, tulip, best by 11/5/20.
It’s a gushing and vibrant pour with a furious rush of bubbles. The result is a golden crisp beer with fine white resilient head. I can’t wait to get into this one!
Fragrant, sweet grass, spring flowers, and fresh grapes all spread over a backbone of crackers. Almost graham cracker, but don’t think this is malty sweet. It’s crisp and dry, yet full and results in my mouth watering.
Perfume is a word that comes to mind when you first take a sip. Not heavy, musky but light and elegant as only the finest achieve; a combination of floral, honey, and herbal. Slightly peppery finish for the hops and crisp malts with some grit and whole grain.
Medium dry, medium-high carbonation. It’s a great combo that echoes west coast IPA.
This is a wonderful, drinkable, delicious concept beer. It’s so refreshing to see an excellent non-hazy IPA these days out of an east coast brewery nonetheless. Will Spaten release a version? I hope so and I’ll grab at least another 12 pack.
