Pours a clear copper. Medium foam. Bland aroma. Not bad. Big pumpkin spice body. Fades to sweet finish. Cinnamon and bread dough. Goes down easy. Worth a taste.

From a bottle into a pint glass. Pour has a fantastically dense head of beige foam a top a crystal clear reddish hued amber body. Scent has notes of pumpkin with a bit of a watery quality to it, nicely meeting the expectations for a beer that brands itself as both oktoberfest and pumpkin styled. Taste follows with a delightfully light array of pumpkin and caramel notes that avoid being too sweet while still having just enough heft. Feel is on the lighter sider, a touch watery, and has an aftertaste that continues the trends noted in the taste. Overall a fantastic fall offering that should please those who want a nice twist on two classics.

Orange/amber, you might even call it a pumpkin color, with a large off white hear and modest lacing.. The vienna lager (referenced in the commercial description) attributes are masked by the seasonal spices in the aroma but if you like those spices in your beer, then you will find this one appealing. Taste is caught in the same trap although the hops add a bit of a positive distraction. There's even a nod towards some bitterness in the aftertaste. Overall, not a huge fan of the style. And while there are better ones out there this one is approachable.

A pumpkin lager with plenty of spice. If there’s something I’ve learned about drinking all the pumpkin beers I’ve had over the years, and brewing my own, is that I’m not a big fan of spice added in. This has got plenty to not make me a big fan…

Devils Backbone Brewing Co. "München on Pumpkin"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle coded "DB BEST BY 11.17.22 05:19:47" and sampled on 10.10.22
Notes via stream of consciousness: "LAGER WITH NATURAL PUMPKIN PIE & SPICE FLAVORS". A clear deep copper colored body is capped by a short head of off-white foam that drops fairly shortly after it's poured. The aroma is bready, toasty, and softly spicy with cinnamon and sugar. The taste is malty with the same bready and toasty notes found in the aroma. There's a light touch of fruitiness to it, and the spice is more complicated than just soft cinnamon but I can't really pick anything specific out. I'm going to suggest that there's nutmeg and allspice in the flavoring, but no ginger or clove; at least that's my perception. It's softly spicy and yet still spicy enough that you get it. That's a good thing in my opinion, or at least better than the dozens of pumpkin beers that I've tasted which have been overspiced to the point that they're almost undrinkable. That's certainly not the case here and I'd imagine that you could drink several of these without becoming overwhelmed by spice. A whole six-pack in fact! There's not a whole lot of bitterness to it and yet it finishes dry with a swirl of dusty spice lingering. In the mouth it's medium bodied on the lower end and gently bristling on the tongue. There's some carbonation to it which makes me wonder why the head retention is so limited. The lacing is limited as well, but that usually follows. All in all they've done a good job of delicately spicing a Vienna lager and I wonder if this is just their regular Vienna lager at its base.

DB pretty much accomplished what they set out to do - create a decent lager with a little pumpkin beer element. I poured this beer from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.. It featured a clear dark amber color and a bubbly white head with average retention and little lacing. Aroma is mild, with a little pumpkin spice in a malty beer. Flavor included dry biscuity malt, a little pumpkin spiciness and some mild bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel was rich enough, crisp and refreshing - certainly what you would want in a lager. The little bit of pumpkin spice and hoppiness added to the mouthfeel. In all not a bad beer, much better than some thin brew with a potpourri of pumpkin spices dumped in.

Pours a copper color with a finger of head. The nose has notes of caramel and cinnamon. The flavor certainly has the pumpkin pie spices upfront.
This is an interesting endeavor; they bill this as a hybrid pumpkin-Marzen. I'm definitely getting the pumpkin part (at least the seasonal spice part) but thearzen takes a definite back seat.
Nice on theory, however.

12oz bottle poured into a snifter
A- pours a clear amber/golden color with a one-finger foamy white head that has good retention
S- smells of toasted grains, bread crust, caramel, forrest floor. Not much spice, maybe a hint of cinnamon
T- the spices are much more prevalent on the palate, with cinnamon jumping out quickly, followed by undertones of nutmeg. Mid-palate gives notes of caramel and bread crust. The finish gives more cinnamon that continues into the linger
M- medium-light body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that continues into a crisp finish

It looks appealing and fun. I’m familiar will DB and enjoy their breweries / beer. This one is flat unfortunately. There’s a weak scent of spice, brown sugar and very little pumpkin. The taste is bland and leaves you wanting more. After several sips I just keep waiting for more. That’s the problem. It leaves you wanting more of just about everything. Weak in the senses. They can do better.

I bought my usual Sam Adams Octoberfest, but the distributor apparently isn't making the Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest available this season for some reason. I tried the München on Pumpkin on a lark, and I was pleasantly surprised. It reminds me of their excellent flagship, Vienna Lager with a bit of pumpkin spice. Goes great with a hearty meal which is enhanced by the layers of flavors in München on Pumpkin. I highly recommend that you try it before it's gone.

You know, I thought I would give this one a fair shake. I was hoping and expecting mild-mannered and forgettable, but it was fairly clunky and unappealing, failing in its Vienna lager and pumpkin aspects.

Poured hard from a bottle into a snifter glass, forming a couple fingers of foamy white head. Dark amber color, pretty much transparent. Smell is a bit biscuity with a little bit of pumpkin. Taste is a solid lager, biscuit primarily, with maybe a hint of pumpkin. Definitely not a good pumpkin beer, but a solid lager.
