Cow-laboration Series No. 4: Tropical IPA

i liked this one a lot, probably one of the best fruited ipa types i have had this summer. i reckon they do it with a ton of citrus peel, as there is that oily splashy refreshing fruity thing going on, but also a whole lot of bitterness that i like to see in ipa, and that so many of these lack. its very pale in color, not a lot of impact here from the malt, just a pale easy base to let the fruit and the hops do their thing more or less unimpeded. the aroma of the citrus is rather tropical, tangerine and grapefruit, but also has a pineapple sweetness in there too, juicy and summery for sure. the hops are a mix of citrus and grass family it seems, and i get as much of that mellow bitterness as i do the mosaic and citra type brightness. the balance is awesome here, they seem to compliment each other really nicely, and they were also really smart to keep it so light, both in body and abv, this is absolutely a summer crusher. flavorful but not overdone on the fruit, this is a very well made and drinkable brew.

 

 

 

So this was an interesting one - on tap at Target Field. Ive had it a couple times now and I'm a bit torn. Its nose is this awesome punch you in the face fruit, but still has that IPA hoppiness to it. The flavor is good for a hot baseball game, but im not sure if its what I want, the fruit is almost over the top. Otherwise, feel and look are pretty good for an IPA.

Will buy again.
