Released in November 2019, rescued this from my fridge as the max12 beer stock continues to decline. 12 oz. bottle.
The pour is dark with distinct bloody beets around the fringes. Little to no head. Aroma brings lumber, cherry, & a touch of smoke tickling the nose hair. Huh.
Gray Duck – I have fond memories of tearing around in, well, somebody’s basement at an early age playing Duck Duck Gray Duck & yes, that is the proper name. Lots of plums (?), lots of booze, with gentle recriminations of vanilla, oak (or is that birch?), with the barrels & dark fruit to make me feel brandy rather than bourbon. Wisp of smoke on the finish. Slick. Wearing on the palate – a nip of this one would have been sufficient.
Didn’t expect the fruit, or the brandy. An odd beer. Good?

Lift Bridge/Goose Island Collabeeration Double Barrel Gray Duck Baltic Porter, 11.3% ABV. Pours black with a half-finger beige head that left no lacing. Nose is vanilla, dark fruit, and toffee/caramel. Taste is bourbon, caramel, some sweetness, some bourbon burn, slight bitterness. Excellent mouthfeel, though a tad overcarbonated. Overall excellent.

12oz bottle. Etched on bottle is '28051 180173B'. Collaboration brew with Goose Island Beer Company.
Deep brown colored body. Thin tan head. Leaves some strings of lacing.
Aroma of bourbon barrel, vanilla, and toffee.
Taste is toffee, with a softness from the vanilla that balances against the bourbon burn. Has a little smoke, but not bitter.
Medium mouth feel, creamy smooth texture. Good carbonation. Some tongue burn.
The vanilla is more prominent here than in other bourbon aged porters, but this makes for a smooth sipper. The barrel is more in the smell than in the flavor profile. I liked the early after taste better than any other part of the flavor profile.

Pours a deep dark brown with a thin tan cap. Nice leggings when swirled. Aroma is roasted malt, caramel and light bourbon. Flavor follows the nose, sweet with more bourbon than the nose would suggest. I get dark fruit and a hint of smoke. Feel is on the lighter side of medium bodied with minimal carbonation. Overall a fantastic imperial Baltic Porter.

Pours A dark Rusty mahogany color with a thin tan head. Smell is fruity with vanilla ,oak some smoke. Tasted like a barleywine to me notes of fig, date and prune, has some wood notes, with an average barrel finish plus sweet/roasted malts . Mouth Feel is sweet and fruity with minimal barrel would have like more roasted malts and some smoke spice. Twas good would have liked more barrel after all it is Double barrel but not $9 a bottle good.
