Sampling this beer in a growler that I purchased from the brewery recently. Pouring cold into a snifter the beer is a rich black color with a frothy tan head that is roughly 2 cm and fades to a robust edge layer rather quickly but does leave some sticky lattice on the glass as it fades.
The aroma is some roasted malt, coffee beans, and just a little herbal hop note buried in the background. I also get a bit of milk chocolate mixed in, no booze on this anywhere in the nose. Definitely rich coffee scents.
The first sip reveals a silky smooth body with mild gentle rolling carbonation. Texture makes this beer drink very easy and smooth. The body is a little thinner than I expected but not a huge drawback.
Flavor is some roasted malt and rich coffee notes. Very much a coffee forward flavor profile. Lingering coffee bitterness in my mouth after each swallow. No hops or booze on the flavor. The finish is very dry and makes me thirsty for more sips.
The beer is very easy to drink and interesting without being overpowering. It is thinner and less of a stout body but I still enjoy the beer.
Worth a try, especially if you are a coffee drinker.
