Arrived with a finger of deep-tan head that slowly compressed like Luke Sywalker in the disposal plan. Color was a deep cola-brown with ruby highlights. Made with cocoa nibs from a local artisan choclatier, the nose was like a glass of Chocolate Quik as a kid. Mouthfeel was medium-to full with a taste like cocoa powder on the tongue. Finish was dusty dry and very chocolaty. It was a bit sweet for yours truly, but there is a definite segment that would totally dig this.

Bube's Porter is almost too rich for the small town of Mount Joy to be able to contain it. If they were making more than 2 barrels at a time I'm sure it would be better known. Its ebony body reveals only an edge of deep mahogany at its base when held to the light; and its creamy light tan head slowly settles to a thin surface covering that leaves walls of tiny, spotty lace throughout the glass. The nose is deliciously similar to coffee and dark, bittersweet chocolate with a roasty edge and some mild nuttiness. The body is medium, and its very fine and moderate carbonation leaves it creamy and smooth across the palate. The flavor delivers a touch of fruit and some dark malt acidity upfront followed by caramelish, chocolatey, and nutty malt. It's bold bitterness is then revealed at the swallow; and some dry, coffe-like roastiness becomes apparent in the finish along with some lingering nuttiness. A solid offering with great drinkability.
