March 2014: 750 ml hand numbered bottle, No. 1086, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8%. Label artwork "Skull & Cross Blades" by The Dotmasters. Black colour, large tan head. Lovely roasty, fruity and spicy aroma, hints of plums, prunes, liquorice and tobacco. The flavour is fairly dry, and the mouthfeel is fairly light for an 8% dark beer. Distinct roasty notes of liquorice, coffee and dark bitter chocolate, also plenty of bittering hops. A discrete fruitiness in the background. Good beer.
