6% ABV. 33cl bottle served into a tulip @ Pikkulintu in Helsinki, Finland. Expectations were high given the breweries involved. Reviewed from notes taken in Summer 2015.
HEAD: ~3 inches wide. White colour. Foamy and frothy, with light lacing and ~6-7 minute retention. Fluffy and soft looking.
BODY: Clear vibrant copper. Clear and clean, with no visible yeast.
It's a nice looking sour mash beer, but it isn't unique or special in its appearance.
AROMA: Sourness is mild - maybe 6/10 in terms of intensity - but there's ample complexity to it; I find lactobacillus bacteria but also wild yeast(s). The hop profile is intriguing, with notes of lime, tropical fruit (mango, citrus, passionfruit), and floral character. I don't find any bourbon meself, but the malt backbone is robust, with a strong barley base filled out nicely by pale malts. I struggle to find either rye or maize.
Aromatic intensity is above average.
TASTE: The lime-driven hop profile gives a cool fruity edge to this wild ale, with brings the sourness in the second act, yielding lactobacillus-emphatic sourness which is maybe a 6/10 in terms of intensity. The hop profile is further enhanced by intricate floral notes, tropical fruits, subtle citrus, and glimmers of coating resins. The barley backbone is great, supporting the hops and sourness while holding everything together. Remarkably balanced, with superb depth of flavour. Sure, the build could be still more complex - with more sourness and wild characteristics - but it's great as-is. Very likable stuff.
TEXTURE: Aptly medium-bodied, with sufficient thickness and weight on the palate to support its diverse flavour profile. Smooth, wet, a bit smacky, and refreshing. Harmonizes nicely with the taste. Superb execution, even if it is a bit overcarbonated. Cool and approachable.
OVERALL: This unlikely success of an experimental brew isn't as unique as its marketing would have us believe, but it's alarmingly well-brewed. I'm not sure how they made hops play so well with lactic acid, but the result is a highly drinkable treat that will please and intrigue the discerning drinker. Well worth trying, even at its 8 euro/33cl pricetag. Has me inspired to try more Lervig brews.

Pours deep amber with a small head.
Nose shows funky sour notes, yogurt-like, along with lemon and elderflower notes.
Flavours include lemon, cardboard notes, funk.
Much too highly carbonated.
