Brewed in collaboration with Finback Brewery.
Back in December 2018, we went to Brooklyn and brewed up Koselig Øl - a double rye IPA with Citra/Idaho 7/Mosaic hops. A few weeks ago, we had the Finback guys at our place to brew up another double rye IPA - this time at a smooth 7.4% with Mosaic and cryo Loral hops which are "changing the brewing world" according to an article on the VERY influential kegerator.com. The subtle spiciness from the rye segues into the dank, herbal notes of the hops with a full-bodied, fruity finish.
Hops: Mosaic, Loral
IBU: 21

Pours a hazy, golden amber coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of biscuity, slighty bready malt and quite floral/herbal hops, with just a hint of citrus and earthy spice as well. Taste is a good balance of biscuity, bready malt and quite floral/herbal, somewhat dank hops, with citrus and tropical notes of sweet tangerine and pineapple, a lighter rye spicyness and just a hint of pine. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some floral/herbal hops, earthy spice and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Soft mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
This is quite dominated by the floral/herbal hops and a bit too floral for my personal taste, although the herbal, slighly resinous hops work together quite well with the rye spiciness, which could a bit more pronounced though. There's a lot going on here, with floral, herbal, dank, fruity, spicy, resinous, sweet and bitter notes that all work together well enough, but it's all a bit much and personally I wish this were a lot less floral and more spicy. Also feels just a little boozy, but does have an excellent, full and fluffy mouthfeel though.
