Off the Rack Australian Dark Rum 2022 features the robust toasted malt and coffee notes of our imperial stout, elegantly mellowed by the caramel and vanilla whispers of rum-soaked oak. Balanced yet complex, the delicate essence of spices meld with dark chocolate, toffee, and coconut hinting to the sun-soaked shores where the rum barrels matured.

Lervig Aktiebryggeri "Off The Rack Australian Dark Rum 2022"
375 mL brown glass bottle, capped & waxed, coded "BEST FØR/BEST BEFORE 27.09.28" and sampled on 27.11.24
Notes via stream of consciousness: It pours an opaque black body beneath a short head of dark tan foam that steadily dwindles down into a wide collar. The aroma offers dark chocolate, an oily coffee bean-like roastiness, caramel, and alcohol. On to the taste, it's quite rich and full. It's intense without going overboard. I'm getting notes of dark chocolate, coffee, golden caramel, reddish medium caramel, darker caramel, almost-burnt sugar, brown sugar, coconut, oatmeal cookies, black raisin, mild oak, and alcohol. The alcohol is clearly present but not distracting, and actually adds to the experience. Without the alcohol it might be too sweet but as it is it finishes lingering, drying as it goes, until roastiness and bitterness are all that's left behind. Stunning! In the mouth it's full bodied and remarkably smooth with just a moderate, very-fine bubbled carbonation. This one will wake you up, and then slowly put you back to sleep again. A masterpiece.
