Presentation: Top of the hills great imperial pint glasses- also available in canned 6 packs as of last month. No freshness date
Appearance: A very dark amber for an IPA with and opaqueness from being unfiltered and unpasteurized. One-finger fizzy head with lacing that lasts forever
Aroma: Smells of hops are immediate, yet not fruity- more ester and rosin...you can tell this is a more 'thick' IPA than most right away
Taste: The main selling point of the IPA is its thickness and richness combined with the pungent hops. The thickness is given by the generous amount of malt in this beer, which forms a nice counterpoint to the hop finish that lingers on your tongue. This isn't a beer you can smell from across the room, but a nice, pretty hoppy IPA you can actually call a session beer. Sweeter than expected
Notes: Thank god they started selling this in 6 packs! I will miss being in Carolina for many reasons, but as far as food and drink, I will miss Top of the Hill the most for its great beers, most prominantly the IPA and the ESB
