Beer arrived at table with no head and no lacing. Dark brown color. Very slight almond malt and grain smell. Mild taste and flavor for a stout. Weak mouthfell, strong almond aftertaste. Was told the almond had replaced the previous stout that was more highly rated. Very disappointed with Southend and the Almond stout.

The beer arrived at the table black as night with ruby highlights when held to the light, it has a very low head that was persistent, but only wished it could lace the glass.

The aroma was sweet and fruity with an almond extract character.

The flavor was expresso/coffee and almond extract. Not very well done and not very tasty.

The finish was bitter coffee and the body was medium light and watery.

Skip it, it was not very good.
