This was the first of quite a few beers that I picked up at the Marketplace Foods in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. Even though I was born in Milwaukee, this was the first brew that I had from these guys and it was quite pleasing from start to finish. Indeed, this was a nice take on a Cream Ale!
Golden and waxy in appearance, this was topped off with plenty of head as it took quite a while to settle down. Only a few thin rings of lacing remained with one at the top of my pint glass and the others being evenly spaced the rest of the way down. Loads of mango, cream, and bright tropical fruit on the nose as the taste felt like an ice cream from down the Jersey Shore, along with some turbid tropical fruit and orange pith. So easygoing, balanced, and just a tad sweet, there weren't any rough edges to this as it went down nice and easy, with minimal carbonation as it held up well all the way to this cold December day.
Like so many other cream ales, this had nearly no trace of any alcohol as the aftertaste was a bit dank and murky without upstaging everything else going on here. No date was listed anywhere on the can or label as the numbers on the bottom must have been an inside code. This was fun and something I'd look for again when in the Badger State!

Mango Outboard pours a slightly cloudy yellow, with a small head. Mango aroma. Flavor is very creamy, but big on the mango notes; much more of a fruit beer. Good body and feel.

Poured from the tap into a pint glass. Pours golden yellow with a tiny white head. Smells of sweet mango. Tastes of mango with nice cereal grain. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.
