Traditional St. Patrick's Day offering from the Milwaukee Ale House. Very dark amber with garnet hues and a light tan head. Although maybe a little bit too dark for an Irish Red. Aroma consists of caramal, sweet malt, roasted barley and hops. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied and smooth. Rich malt backbone. Packed with initial flavors of sweet malt and caramel that are followed up with a feint smokiness, possibly from the roasted barley, which introduces itself at the start of the uncommonly smooth and creamy finish. Saaz and Tettnang hops combine perfectly with the malty characteristics to round out the finish of this superb Irish red ale. This one's a keeper that I wish they had on tap year round.
