A brilliant rendition of an "export" Scottish ale in the 80 Shilling range (with an OG of just 10.8 degrees Plato). Its clear copper body is capped by a short head of off-white foam that drops fairly shortly to a thin collar but leaves some spotty lace as it goes. The nose is very clean, and rather limited, as the style dictates. In fact, it's so clean that it could almost be confused for a lager! And in the mouth it's light and smooth across the palate with a very fine and moderate carbonation. The flavor, however, offers more character and it's lightly sweet, delicately scortched caramel character is spot-on for the style. Very well balanced and highly drinkable; once it warms this is an enjoyable session brew. I'd love to try this one from a cask!
