Has a dark amber color. Rust. Nice lacing too.

Sharp hops notes in the taste. Very assertive. Blitheringidiot mentioned that it has a dry taste. It seems like it was aged in wood. I would agree with him. A good malt backbone to balance the assertive hops. Menu said this one clocked in at 40 IBUs.

Nice balance makes this beer drinkable.

Pours a nice clean copper, shiny, with a foamy head, the color of which ranges from off white in the base, to barely khaki on the peaks. It fades down, but never disappears completely. Pretty.

Aroma is fantastic, clean and crisp, but not to the point of distraction, with isolated biscuit malt, caramelized cane sugar, and just a hint of green apple skin from the noble hops (hallertau?) and what I thought was a late whiff of allspice. Just beautiful.

Taste is wonderful as well, and the balance of this brew reveals itself. It is delightfully malty and caramelized, but never cloying. It finishes semi-dry and clean, but it is never too hoppy or overwhelmingly astringent. Balance, balance, balance. At the photo finish, sweetness juuuust wins out, but it's appropriately done.

Mouthfeel is nice, pillow soft, but still active enough for the style.

Drinkability was very very good -- I should have picked up a growler fill after my pint was finished, but it just didn't happen.

All in all, another winner from Scott Morrison -- but did you expect anything less?

Dark coppery brown pour with a rather foamy pour cap.

Scents are subdued of light lager grains and some caramel notes.

First swigs: Starts and finishes dry...oaky dry...like the dusty flavors of cutting a lot of wood with a circular saw all day. Not that far off from the style, mind you...just drier than some.

Medium feel and quite easily drinkable...

Last swigs: To my personal humble tongue, this doesn't have the root beer twinged sweetness of some alts that have curried my favor as of late. Scrodolah!!! $2.50 a pint tho'!!! Git yer AZZ down 202 bruffah! How many restaurant brewpubs offer an ALT??? 'sides SlyFox. Go Scott M. The guy is a genius. Not a tire tearin' brew that he usually creates, but par excellance fot the pub.

Beer is good. Happy beering.
