I'm really glad to have had the opportunity to sample this. This was I believe one of the last beers made by Nate before leaving McKenzie, and was custom-made, not released to the public.
Cloudy amber pour, with a fuzzy cap of white head. Tons of fresh peach in the nose, and a good dose of earthy saison funk; everything good about the base beer, and more. Great balance in the taste, peach flesh more subtle that the aroma, but still very prevalent, lending a slight tartness to the beer. The saison funk takes the foreground, with a good dose of dry oak, and a touch of malty sweetness and grassy hops. Bright mouthfeel, all components popping in the right way, crisp farmhouse goodness.
For those who don't know, Vautour was a pioneer of beers as far as American saisons go...think precursor to TH FarmHands and HF Arthur. Adding peach to this was a brilliant move, and created quite possibly the best beer that ever came out of McKenzie, and one of the best American saisons overall.
