This brew poured a deep cloudy mahogany with some head a minimal lacing. Aromas were light and airy- some caramel malts, mulling spices. Taste was similarly light- some sweetness from the malts, but hardly dominating. Spices were present as well as the freshness of orchard fruits and banana. A standard dunkel weizen, slighlty tame with no big yeasty flavors or overwhelming spice. Mouthfeel was creamy and the brew went down very easy. More refreshing than i had expected with a grainy finish though not as thick and syrupy as others of the style.

McKenzie's Dunkelweizen displays a very hazy but not quite fully cloudy dark-brown body with a rich, deep-crimson cast and ruby-orange highlights. The creamy tan head holds fairly well and leaves some nice lacing about the glass.
The nose is limited, but it normally is with dunkels, offering some mild banana and a touch of malt.
Banana-plum yeasty fruitiness dominates the flavor over a bready, lightly wheaty, dark-caramel tinged maltiness. The bitterness is limited (the menu states 16 IBUs), allowing the maltiness to come through, yet it still finishes towards the dry side. Some mild banana and maltiness lingers in the finish.
Medium bodied with a median carbonation.
Overall, it's a well done, enjoyable weizen!
