First had: on tap at McKenzie's Malvern location

A winter warmer "spiced with cardamom, star anise and orange peel." 8.2%ABV as of late.

12oz. pour, medium brown color with a slight haze, and a small cap of off-white bubbles; low retention and little to no lacing. Aroma of bready malts and cakey spices, notes of orange and herbal hops. Lots of spice in the taste, more cardamom and less anise, a very dry orange peel bitterness complimenting herbal hops, and keeping this beer from being too sweet or too spicy, bready malts, black peppercorns; a little more caramel sweetness came out as it warmed, bringing more balance and seeming to indicate that this beer should not be served at fridge temperature. Body was medium, mouthfeel was fairly dry, and drinkability was moderate...worth a try, but not really something I'd go back for again. Decent brew overall.

Shared by yourefragile. Thanks Michael.

The beer is copper hued with a thin, soapy tan head. The aroma offers cotton candy, sugar, alcohol, fruity tones. Malty sweetness with holiday spice. Yikes! More than an ounce or two of this would be too much. Evergreen and peppermint candies with cinnamon. ut uh.

Bottle 94/144, thanks Michael. Served in a McKenzie's stemmed glass as seen on my twitter feed. Beer is brown and clear at the corners with an off white head of small and medium bubbles, minimal retention, not a lot of lacing, moderate to low carbonation.

Aroma is sweet, malty, interesting.

I am unsure what kind of beer this is but after tasting it I guessed it was a saison, although I'm likely incorrect in that assumption. Despite the beer being malty and sweet in the nose, the palate is thin, carbonated, mildly peppery with only an afterthought of sweetness and malt. It is a fine beer and I think it is saison-like....I'd probably have it again. I did enjoy it.
