Bottle #7 of 84. My experience with this one seems to have been a little better than the other reviewers overall but this was still pretty average.
The beer is a murky apple cider color, with a minimum head and almost no lacing despite an aggressive pour. What head there is quickly dissipates. Aroma is nearly all apple brandy, maybe a little oakiness, some bready malt, hints of oxidation.
Flavor follows aroma, heavy on the apple brandy, without much else save a middling malty base. Sweet but not cloying. I found that despite the in your face apple brandy character there was little in the way of boozy heat.
Body was medium, perhaps a little thin. I found this a bit fizzy and overly carbonated at first but as he sipped our glasses the carbonation relaxed a bit, the flavor opened up, and it became pleasant enough. Certainly nothing exceptional but it was cool and different and about as .rar as it gets. For whatever that's worth.

Pours a dark brown color. Fizzy, cola-like "head" builds during the pour, but is gone before I can set the bottle down. Looks a lot like a cider. Nothing much else to report.
Heavy on the apple brandy. Letting it warm allows a little earthy funk to come out, but sweet alcohol remains the dominant impression.
Taste is almost pure alcohol. Again, a mild funk comes through, but its buried under overly sweet alcohol notes. Feel is thin, yet crisp. Finishes with a dry alcohol burn.
Just can't get behind this one. Not sure if time would help, but if only 84 were bottled I doubt it will cross my path again. Nice idea, execution is lacking.

750 ml bottle, purchased at McKenzie Brew House in Malvern. Split three ways.
A: Murky brownish, caramel colored body with really no head or lacing at all. Minor floaties can be seen in the body. Nothing lavish about it but not the worst looking beer I've seen.
S: Caramel malts, sweet boozy alcohol notes, wet oak, brandy.
T: Plenty of barrel and booze here, sweeter malts, sticky alcohol notes.
M: Lightly carbonated, booze lingered around for a bit too long. This is only 8% ABV?
This was a big miss for me. I'm a sucker for Apple Brandy beers, and maybe this one will come around with some time on it but I doubt it (I think this has already been bottled for 3 years)...
