Hazy golden color with a tight, bright, white head that leaves some lace. Fruity aroma with the standard banana and spicy clove, along with light citrus, and a touch of bubblegum. Starts with a soft wheat flavor followed by banana and citrus. The spice and light hop flavors keep the sweetness in check and add refreshment. Finishes with a soft wheat aftertaste. Medium in body, crisp, smooth, and refreshing. Easy to drink. Not as funky as some hefe's, but still very flavorful.

This was at available at the brewpub on 7/19/2009. Instead of having a glass there, I took this one home with me in one of their 64 oz. growlers. I served this beer in a tall Spaten glass.
Usually a Hefeweizen pours a yellow color, but Pizzera Uno's version poured a semi hazy pure honey amber. The initial head of foam was a decent size. This head of foam was a manageable 3/4 to 1 inch in height and was an off white color. It had OK retention that left behind a tiny string of rings and only a few spots of lace.
This Hefeweizen had a plain and simple aroma of crispy malted wheat, a pinch of cloves, an extreme subtle whiff of bananas, and this simple aroma finishes up with a splash of lemon zest.
I thought the taste was a little overly carbonated. The carbonation covered up what little malted wheat there was. Along with the malted wheat was a hint of crispy cloves, a gentle touch of banana, a dash of nutmeg, and then the taste ends with a subtle hop bitterness.
This was a light bodied Hefeweizen with a little too much carbonation and a faint aftertaste of malted wheat and a touch of cloves.
If you go to Pizzera Uno and you see this on tap there, don't expect to drink a great Hefeweizen. Just expect to drink a good standard freshly brewed Hefeweizen. Summer treat? Sure!

Pours cloudy golden with a thin white head that soon becoms a patch.
The smell is of doughy wheat with banana and a hint of clove.
The taste is of sugar-coated banana chips and a touch of clove. Wheat flavor is doughy. Crisp finish.
It is light, I want to say thin - seltzery. Refreshingly crisp.
Easy enough and quenching enough for a light summer brew with the banana/clove certainly enough to let you know the style.

back in the saddle for the summer.. and boy do we need some refreshment.. damn hot here these days... $9.95 for a growler fill (can I get a hells yeah?)
eyes...
poured into a test tube... just kidding, big pillowy snow white head ..2 full fingers, pale hazy yellow hue, the retention is very good, the head remains pretty chunky and sticks like gum on your shoe in a movie theater... very nice looking hefe
"that there's a nice lookin heffer" - alabama man
nose...
nice light doughy wheat scent with hints of clove.. a little slice of lemon, but pretty subdued.. average for the style as it is a bit underwhelming actually. not bad at all but nothing to stroke over.
taste etc...
light and crisp. has enough body to not be a light beer but yet drinks so smooth you can suck these down no problem. light doughy wheatness is present but not omnipresent like say in something like Westephaner Hefe. The carbonation is nice, a little bite of pricklation but not distracting, it adds to the refreshment factor here. A little lemon kicks in at the back end drying this out on the mouth making you want another sip. This is a lip smackin refreshing beer, no doubt.
verdict?
a solid hefe for the season. I will gladly be picking up growlers of this for the BBQ days of summer. Easy drinking and a good example of the style even if it doesn't bowl you over.

This brew pours a bubbly gold color with a thin white head. Thin lacing. Also has a minimal wheat aroma. Light and somewhat crisp, and does not have a lot of wheat in the flavor. Light hops in the finish. Just OK. This brew seemed to be more of a regular light or blonde than a wheat.
