Dark with ruby highlights. Not much of a head. Looks okay. Leaves some lacing.

Smells malty and fruity. I'm thinking chocalate and raspberry.

This is a weird tasting beer. Kinda spritz... Like a club soda. Am I missing something here? Some chocalate, raspberry and booze. It all seems kind of bland to me.

Mouth feel isn't heavy feels okay. Feels like a blah dry wine.

I think one is enough with this.

cask fest last sat night... served by mighty gayla in a wee glass...

eyes...
obviously subdued from the tap version, really a touch more cloudy but still the same dark caramel brown with obviously less carbonation. it looks like it should, not too exciting but then again it isn't supposed to do a puppet show on the bar.

nose...
less choc tones from the tap version of this particular batch (I actually did not like the regular tap version this time around, it did not agree with me at all). this had the nice balance of malty cloying sweetness balanced with boozy tone... like a week barley wine, nothing great here but it seemed "right"

taste etc.
wayyy too smooth, we are talking lando calrisian smooth, you could slam this beer and it is an ABV beast around 9%, forget wee heavy, think wee hammered, the body has enough weight to be easily drinkable and not "flat" feeling due to the lack of usual carbonation. This tastes like a mild with a slightly kicked up ABV... which is ridiculous because this thing will kick your ass. The body was just short of chewy and the flavor just hinted of irish whiskey.

verdict ?
really? wow. If this was on tap (cask) all the time I would have a glass rather than a shot of jamesons. For a hop head this is a fantastic change up into malt world.

kudos to Mike.

Presented in a snifter - too cold - let this warm up for a good while.

Pours mahogany with a white head that doesn't last too long before become a thin, lasting patch.

The smell is of caramel, hints of chocolate covered fruits and wood (oak?) Alcoholic notes.

The taste is like the smell, but more intense. Warming alcohol comes through, but in a supportive, non-interfering way.Malty with a nice underlying earthy hop bitterness to balance it out while maintaining a malty character. Solid medium body. Finishes with a slightly sweet, woody, long and dry.

Smooth buttery texture with a faint crispness. Very nice feel.

A very nice interpretation of a Scotch Ale - could come from Scotland, but with a domestic craft freshness. Enjoyable and tasty, the alcohol sneaks up unnoticed. I do recommend going to Pizzeria Uno for this one while it lasts, even if it means going out of your way - It's worth it!

Pours a deep brown and amber in color with a very little head if any. Smells of caramel malt, molasses, alcohol, dark fruit, slightest hop bitterness, and as it warms roasted notes. Only until it was around room temp do you detect any of the about 9% alcohol in this monster. Caramel, roasted malts headline the flavors with dark berry like fruit in the finish. I would suggest letting this beer warm up a bit to get the full spectrum of the flavors. The beer is medium bodied, fills up you mouth to a great extent and is very warming. So drinkable it is silly. A must try if you are in the area and probably my winter beer of choice now. I'm glad i have my growler to bring next time=).

Appearance: Nice dark red color. Excellent head.

Smell: Mild malt - perhaps less than there should be for a Scotch Ale.

Taste/Mouthfeel/Drinkability: Black cherry astringency in the start that is somewhat detracting. The sweet taste of the smell of new tires... most likely from the alcohol. Moves into the standard Scotch Ale toasty maltiness in the middle, and (thankfully) finishes clean and dry. Decent mouthfeel, but not very good drinkability due to the off tastes in the front.

NOTE: The bartender quoted this beer at 8.6% alcohol. I am assuming that this is ABV.

Served way too cold but in a nice tulip glass at the source. DARK, nearly opaque black for a scotch ale with a nice head of off-white foam that leaves nice lacing as well. Aromas are all there. Oak, dark fruits, interesting yeast notes, and more. The taste is a nice blend of boozy, smoky, scotch flavors and weird dark, juicy fruit hop flavors. This almost tastes like gummy bears. Really. This is so juicy and the mouthfeel and drinkability are great for an 8.8%abv brew. Wow, who knew Uno's could be this cool!?
