Served in a snifter...and thankfully not a "sifter" as our bartender explained to us...this has all the visual earmarks of a nice imp stout. Dark, dark, dark with a thick dense mocha head. As you drink, lacing stays behind as rings down the inside of the glass.
Not a lot of aroma to it, but what I do get is roast and coffee...typical. But the taste is what impressed me. A buttload of flavor here with coffee right up front and center, roasts follow and there's licorice on the tip of the tongue as the roastiness lingers at the back of the throat. It is served too cold, but the bartender was quick to point out that they'd prefer to serve it warmer but all the beer is kept in the same place. She recommended holder the "sifter" in our hands to warm the beer. After a while of this, it also exhibited some chocolate flavors, but the licorice faded away.
It was quite thin for an imp stout with some ashiness to it. I really enjoyed this beer, despite not being able to finish it...we had just come from lunch at another brewpub and I was designated driver and had to be responsible.

Pours black with a thin tan head that leaves lacing.
The smell is of roasted coffee beans, some chocolate and dark maltiness.
The taste is of roast with toffee and chocolate. Coffee-ish, but not strongly so. There is a slight astingency that is off-set by a creamy texture.
The feel is light, but creamy.
This is a nice, drinkable, creamy stout. Coffee bean roastiness - might not be the most "coffee-ish", but it has enough coffee bean attributes and a nice chocolate-y, toffee-ish malt character to make it a fine beer to have!
