On tap at the brewpub. Black with white head. Lacey. Above average carbonation, which detracted a bit fom drinkability. Chooolate malt to sweeten it beyond what I would expect from style. Very decent smoked. Some maple in secondary.Accessable for the style.

On tap at Brouhaha. Listed only as Noire Fumée and while their website lists this one as being influened by all of: stout, rauchbier and porter, I'd have to say that the style is closest to a rauchbier.
The beer is an opaque, dark chocolaty brown with lots of visible carbonation up the sides of the glass. It retains a creamy finger of beige head and presents nice lacing. I really love the colour (just shy of black).
Smells of campfire (very similar to Aecht Shlenkerla), minerals, earthy hops and dark malt. Nice, but it's not producing enough of a smell.
This tastes like a cross between Aecht Schlenkerla and a porter with a little water poured in it...in other words it's good but a little watery. Still, it's pretty nice. The smoked malt character is very similar to the Schlenkerla. Light tastes of roasty, smoked malt; earthy hops; a touch of dark chocolate and even less of coffee grinds. The finish is slightly drying. Quite mineraly in a nice way (including a little saltiness).
Smooth light-medium body with light but tingly carbonation. A bit weird actually but not too bad.
This is pretty drinkable. Definitely sessionable if you like smoke. I'd love to check out some more offerings from this brewery.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
